- This impressive highway control and monitoring station was tendered and awarded by Cardiff Construction Company Lex ltd.
- An existing development close to a M5 junction needed to be converted into a high technology motorway CCTV/operation control centre for a major section of the regions road systems.
- The first challenge was to upgrade the office to the current CIBSE recommendation for modern office environment. The second part of the development was a huge control and computer facility within the building, equipped with close control cooling and temperature monitoring/control systems.
- This facility needed to be fit for collecting massive amounts of data and from the extensive CCTV system; carriageway automated signals and other relayed information on the motorway networks.
- The control room was to host a wall to wall system of interlinked CCTV monitors and various operator stations.
- This required special BMS controls and a new standby generation system and large UPS system ensure essential continuity of service in all unforeseen mains power loss situations.
